Manifesto of Surrealism (Manifeste du surrealisme) is Andre Breton's 1924 text founding and defining Surrealism, published in Paris by Editions du Sagittaire. It defines surrealism as psychic automatism, the attempt to express the actual functioning of thought free of reason's control or any aesthetic or moral concern, and it became the movement's accepted charter over a rival manifesto issued the same month.
