Jin Yun Qiao

Jin Yun Qiao is a seventeenth century Chinese novel written in literary Chinese under the pseudonym Qingxin Cairen, meaning Pure Heart Talented Man. It centers on a woman who never consummates her marriage, and its story engages with the theme of prostitution in China. The novel later became the source for the Vietnamese epic poem The Tale of Kieu, known in Vietnamese as Kim Van Kieu, making it a foundational text behind one of Vietnam's most celebrated works of literature.
