Harry Potter in Calcutta is a 2003 unauthorized Bengali novel by Uttam Ghosh set after the events of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. In the story, Harry travels to Calcutta on his Nimbus 2000 broomstick at the invitation of a local boy named Junto, and has a series of adventures involving figures from Bengali literature around the city. The book sold several thousand copies, including 5,000 at the Kolkata Book Fair, before J.K. Rowling's legal team demanded it be withdrawn for its unauthorized use of the Harry Potter name and characters, and it was pulled from sale in India. In it, Harry Potter comes to Calcutta in the dream of a young fan of the books-kind of an elaborate fan-fic. However, the fact that the books author, Uttam Ghosh, glossed over in his interviews is that the bulk of the book is Harry’s account of the events of Philosopher’s Stone.
