A comedia is a form of Spanish Golden Age theater that developed during the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, chiefly through the innovations of the playwright Lope de Vega. It combines dramatic and comic elements in plots that typically involve noble characters and their servants navigating love, jealousy and honor, and at times piety or patriotism as well.
