Filippo Tommaso Marinetti was an Italian poet, editor and art theorist who founded the Futurist movement in Milan in 1909. His Manifesto of Futurism called for a literature and art that celebrated speed, machinery, youth and violence while rejecting the past, and he led the movement as its central figure until his death in 1944.
