A series of nineteen devotional poems, also known as the Divine Meditations or Divine Sonnets, by the English poet John Donne, written mainly around 1609 to 1610 during a period of personal and spiritual crisis. Composed in the Petrarchan sonnet form but turned to urgent religious address rather than romantic love, they are considered central to Donne's reputation as the foremost of the Metaphysical Poets.
