Dolan's Cadillac

Detective and Crime Fiction

Dolan's Cadillac is a novella by Stephen King, serialized in his newsletter Castle Rock between February and June 1985 and later collected in the 1993 anthology Nightmares and Dreamscapes. It follows Robinson, a Las Vegas schoolteacher whose wife was murdered on the orders of the crime boss Dolan, as he spends seven years plotting revenge. Robinson traps Dolan's armored Cadillac in a pit he digs along a desert highway, intending to bury him alive, and the story follows both his meticulous preparation and Dolan's psychological unraveling as he realizes what is happening to him.
