Nonlinear Narrative

Nonlinear narrative, also called disjointed or disrupted narrative, is a narrative technique in which events are presented out of chronological order or otherwise break from the direct causality of the events they depict, through devices such as parallel plot lines, dream sequences, or a story told within the main plot line. The technique is common in electronic literature, especially hypertext fiction, and is also well established in print and other sequential media.
