A mashup novel is an unauthorized, non-canonical work of fiction, often parodic, that combines a well-known pre-existing literary text with elements of another genre. The term became widely used after horror writer Seth Grahame-Smith reworked classic novels by Jane Austen, most famously blending Pride and Prejudice with zombie fiction.
