Fan fiction, also called fanfiction, fan fic, fanfic, fic, or FF, is fiction typically written by fans in an amateur capacity, as a form of fan labor, using copyrighted characters, settings, or other intellectual property from an existing work without the original creator's authorization. It can retain the source work's characters and settings unchanged, alter them, or both, and ranges in length from a few sentences to novel length. Fan fiction draws on both fictional and non-fictional media, including novels, films, comics, television shows, musical groups, theatrical productions, cartoons, web series, anime, manga, and video games.
