A choreopoem is a form of dramatic expression that combines poetry, dance, music and song. The term was coined in 1975 by the American writer Ntozake Shange to describe her own work, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, which departed from traditional Western poetry and storytelling to build an emotional response in the audience without a conventional plot or set characters.
