Tomas Transtromer

Tomas Gosta Transtromer (1931 to 2015) was a Swedish poet, psychologist, and translator whose poetry captured Sweden's long winters, the rhythm of the seasons, and the atmospheric beauty of nature, often carrying a sense of mystery that critics have described as giving his work a religious or Christian dimension. He is regarded as one of the most important Scandinavian writers since the Second World War, praised for poetry that remains accessible even in translation; his work has been translated into more than 60 languages. He received numerous awards for his poetry, culminating in the 2011 Nobel Prize in Literature.
