Song Yu

East and Southeast Asian Literature

Song Yu was a Chinese poet of the late Warring States period who flourished between about 298 and 263 BC. He is known as the traditional author of a number of poems in the Verses of Chu, or Chu ci, including those usually assigned to its Jiu Bian section. Some other texts are also credited to him, though authorship of early Chinese poems is often uncertain. Several fu attributed to him were collected in the sixth-century literary anthology Wen Xuan.
