All Paranormal and Supernatural Fiction

Subgenres of speculative fiction whose defining fact is the kind of paranormal or supernatural phenomenon or being at the story's center, rather than an intent to frighten or a formal literary lineage. Includes ghost stories and other fiction built around the existence or possibility of ghosts, general paranormal and supernatural fiction, occult detective fiction that investigates such phenomena, and creature-centered traditions such as vampire literature and werewolf fiction. Also includes the romance-fiction hybrids built on the same paranormal premise, paranormal romance and time-travel romance, since their defining trait is the paranormal or time-displaced element rather than the romance convention alone. Excludes fear-first horror subgenres grouped under Horror Fiction Subgenres and Gothic-tradition or weird-fiction descendants grouped under their own dedicated groups.
