Romanetto is a literary genre popularized by the Czech writer Jakub Arbes. Works in the genre are usually novella length, longer than a traditional short story but shorter than a novel, and their plots feature an unexplained mystery that is later resolved through rationality and scientific fact. Although largely associated with Arbes, the term has also been applied to later Czech literature.
