Yomihon is a type of Japanese book from the Edo period. Unlike other Japanese books of the period such as kusazoshi, yomihon carried few illustrations and placed its emphasis on text, with storylines that often preached Buddhist ethics such as karma and depicted characters with supernatural powers and imaginary creatures.
