Kalidasa

Kalidasa was a classical Sanskrit poet and playwright of the fourth to fifth century CE, often considered ancient India's greatest literary figure, whose surviving body of work consists of three plays, two epic poems and two shorter poems drawn primarily from Hindu Puranas and philosophy. Almost nothing is known of his life beyond what can be inferred from his own writing, and his works cannot be dated with precision, though scholars generally place his career before the fifth century CE during the Gupta era.
