The Body

The Body is a novella by American writer Stephen King, published in his 1982 collection Different Seasons and later adapted into the 1986 film Stand by Me. Set in the fictional Maine town of Castle Rock during the summer of 1960, it follows twelve year old Gordie LaChance and three friends who set out along the railway tracks after a boy disappears and is presumed dead. Over the course of their journey, the boys, each from a troubled or abusive family, confront death and the limited prospects of growing up in a small factory town.
