Religious Law and Policy Treatises

Treatises that set out how a religious community should act in the world, including the Islamic siyar on the law of war and relations with other peoples, and the medieval Christian writings on the recovery of the Holy Land that proposed how Christendom should answer the crusading problem. A genre belongs here when its cited article describes a treatise of religious law, public conduct or policy in a religious tradition. It excludes church letters and rule books, which are directed to the members of a church and have their own group.
