A dilemma story, or dilemma tale, is an African story-form intended to provoke discussion, used as a form of both entertainment and instruction. Rather than offering the neat resolution found in many other narrative forms, a dilemma tale deliberately remains unresolved, encouraging its audience into debate and exploration of ethical questions about relationships, family loyalty and other community values.
