The Milesian tale is a genre of fictional short story prominent in ancient Greek and Roman literature, its name tracing to the Greek Milesiaka and the Latin fabula milesiaca. According to most authorities a Milesian tale is a short story, fable, or folktale centered on love and adventure, usually of an erotic or titillating nature, a form credited to the Greek writer Aristides of Miletus.
