SUMMARY:Palm Sunday
DESCRIPTION:The Sunday before Easter\, opening Holy Week\n\nThe Sunday th
at opens Holy Week\, commemorating Christ's entry into Jerusalem to the
crowd's acclamation and the strewing of palms. Branches\, palm\, or box\
, willow\, or whatever a region has\, are blessed and carried in process
ion\, then kept through the year\; in the Western rite they are burnt th
e following year to make the ashes of Ash Wednesday. The blessing gives
way at once to the reading of the Passion\, and the day's joy is deliber
